From outreach to the next step
The main work is opening conversations with relevant business owners and finding out whether they are open to a sale. An Acquisition Executive learns about the owner’s plans, priorities and timing.
Then they explain why a sale could make sense, answer questions and objections, discuss terms and agree on the next step. Market and financial analysis helps prepare the position and supporting points.
Sales skills used in owner conversations
- Finding relevant owners and writing a clear opening message.
- Asking about the owner’s plans and reasons to consider a sale.
- Making the case, handling objections and discussing terms.
- Following the conversation through to a clear next step.
Project economics and risks support the discussion: revenue, costs, product rights and reliance on the owner shape the case and possible terms.
What changes in Games and Roblox
You need to understand the product and community: why people return, how updates sustain interest and how monetisation works. Development experience helps, but it does not replace checking the numbers and transfer terms.
Roblox measures retention through new users returning after 1, 7 and 30 days. Read the figures by cohort and period. ARPDAU and payer conversion describe different aspects of monetisation. These are useful areas to investigate, not a ready-made formula for a game’s price.

What the preparation covers
BuySide covers four weeks of preparing owner outreach, discovering the owner’s plans, practising negotiations and objections, and making a reasoned offer. Assignments use learning cases to practise owner conversations and explain a possible sale.
Indigo’s public job description covers game sourcing and negotiations. See the jobs page for current openings and role details.
